Hi Everyone ! :)
I thought about this sentence: " sometimes you have to be your own hero". Very very true!
Just like recovery. Nobody can recover instead of you. Nobody can fight instead of you. Of course they can help you. Your family and friends can be there for you. But you have to do the hardest part. You have to eat, you have fight your own mental battles. That doesn't mean that you are alone. That doesn't mean that you can't reach for help. Because you are not alone and you can and you should ask for help. You don't have to suffer in silence. But you and only you are responsible for yourself and your own life !
When i was sick i used to say that " i have to ask my mum" " my mum and my therapist doesn't allow me to go out" however i was over 21. They made decisions of my own life. Instead of me. I wasn't responsible for myself and for my own life. I remember that all i wanted is to have someone to tell me what to do, what to eat. My therapist always said that i'm responsible for myself. And i remember that i was like " what?!" eating is not something that you have to responsible for. But when i started to recover, really recover and had to stay alone at my home i realised. That no was there to make food for me. No one told me and " it's time to eat" or" you should eat"! I had to go to the kitchen and fix a meal for myself. I remember when my therapist said " i don't care about what you eat, the only thing that matters is to gain weight from it!" I was so angry. That if you don't care about what i eat, why should i care about it ? And then when i was in recovery i realised that he didn't want to put pressure on me by telling me what to eat. And i'm very thankful for him for that. And he tried to make me responsible for my own life.
Being responsible for yourself is hard. But it's a part of the recovery and it's also a big part of being adult. So remember that recovery is totally worth the time! :)
Have a nice day/afternoon or night guys!!! :)
